LT. COL. Seidu Ayodele Balogun

1976 - 1978

Lt. Col. Seidu Ayodele Balogun, the first Military Governor of the newly-created Ogun State of Nigeria, was born on the 20th of April, 1941. He received his elementary education at his hometown Idoani (Owo Division) and at Owo, Headquarters of the Division. He later attended Olu-Iwa College (now Adeola Odutola Comprehensive High School), Ijebu-Ode.

Lt. Col. Balogun has spent virtually all his working life in the Nigerian Army where his outstanding contributors have earned him a succession of promotion and challenging assignments including the present posting as the head of the first-ever Ogun State Government.

The new Governor over the years received broad-based professional training within the Army and played a notable role during the civil war and in the national post-war reconstruction efforts.

The Governor has brought in his new assignment a reputation he earned within the Army as a fearless and fair-minded “Man of Action”. He is married with two children.
