NAVY CAPT. Oladeinde Olusoga Joseph

The Military Governor of Ogun State was born in Aramoko-Ekiti, Ekiti State, on May 9, 1948.

He had his elementary education at Methodist School II, Oke-Ado, Ibadan between 1955 and 1961 and attended Methodist High School, Ibadan for his Secondary education from 1962 to 1966.

Navy Captain Joseph has had a chequered career in the Nigerian Navy since his enlistment in July 1967. From the Nigerian Defence Academy, Kaduna where he took part in the Officers Course between 1969 and 1971, the Governor attended various Naval institutions in India for Seaman Professional Technical Course and specialist courses in Navigation between 1971 and 1972.

In 1976 and 1977, he was in the United Kingdom School of Marine Operations and also the USA Amphibious Warfare School between 1978 and 1979. In 1983, Navy Captain Joseph was again in the United States of America for a Diploma Course in Defence Management at the Naval Post-Graduate School, California. In 1984, he attended the Staff College, Jaji for the PSC Course.

The Military Governor has held numerous Military appointments since his enlistment in the Force in 1967. He was Flag Lieutenant to Chief of Naval Staff between 1975 and 1976; Commanding Officer, NNS JEBBA, 1977 – 1978; Executive Office, NNS OFFIOM, 1979 – 1980. He moved to the Naval Headquarters in January 1981 where he served as Staff Officer (Ratings) till June of the same year after which he became the Staff Officer (Officers) from July 1981 to June 1982. Thereafter, he became the Director of Naval Personnel Services in July, a post he held till July 1983.

He moved back to the ship in August 1983 as the Commanding Officer, NNS SIRI and combined the duties as Commander Patron 3 in the Western Naval Fleet in 1983/84. He moved to Port-Harcourt as the Commanding Officer NNS AKASO in 1985/86. Naval Captain Joseph established the NNS OKEMINI in 1986 and remained its Commanding Officer up till July 1988 when he moved to the NNS ARADU in August 1988 till January 1990. Before his appointment as the Military Governor of Ogun State, Navy Captain Joseph was the Staff Officer, Federal Liaison in the Presidency. He also served as a member of the defunct Exchange Control Tribunal.
