BRIEF ON THE BOARD
The Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning Board,a parastatal of the Ministry of Urban and Physical Planning,came into existence on 12th july,2005 as a result of the enactment of Ogun State Urban and Regional Planning law No.20 of 2005.
The Board is Saddled with the responsibilities of: (i) controlling all various physical developments be it Residential, Commercial, Industrial, Public,and Institutional uses. (ii) Monitoring all the development in order to control the growth of Urban Sprawl in Ogun State. The implementing Departments of the Board are clarified under section 29 subsection 1 of the law with the details of the specific function of each Department listed in the third schedule of the enabling law. Development Control Department is the pivot on which most activities of the Board rotate.A Substantial number of staff in the Board are in the Control Department to match up with its numerous functions listed in the third schedule of the enabling law.
The Department has 20 Zonal Town Planning Offices spread across the State without contiguous boundaries with the Twenty Local Government Councils, and 37 Local Government Council Development Areas in the State; but rather located on the basis of major towns and cities in the State for effective monitoring and control of physical development.

Duties
- Registration and processing of Building Plan applications for approval in tandem with the enabling laws and regulations.
- Disapproval of application and withdrawal of same for non-conformity with existing laws and regulations
- Renovation and alteration of existing approved structures
- Change of use and title change
- Charging of assessment fees
- Assessment of Technical report for established use
- Monitoring and Control of Physical development of Lands within the State
- Detection of Contravention and serving of appropriate statutory notices
- Sealing of Illegal structures
- Demolition of critical and dangerous structures
- Production of yearly base data on all building plans registered, approved and disapproved on Zonal offices basis
- The Central monitoring unit under the department oversees the Physical development compliance of all the zonal offices and carry out appropriate sanctions
- Investigation of all petitions and complaints on physical development
- Attendance to litigation matters with the involvement of Ministry of Justice
- Public enlightenment, sensitization and regular interactive meetings with stakeholders-CDA,CDC,and other public fora

Duties
- To ensure absolute compliance with financial regulations, IPSAS and accounting codes by all staff under his control or supervision
- To ensure adequate supervision in the disbursement of funds and ensure proper monitoring and accounting for revenue, so as to realize goal congruence in revenue collection by the Agency.
- To advise the accounting officer and all other departmental Heads on financial matters as well as the more technical provisions of these instruction and other treasury and finance circulars
