BRIEF HISTORY OF BUREAU OF LANDS AND SURVEY OGUN STATE
The Land Act of 1978 in Section 1 (2) (a-b) states that “all land comprised in the territory of each state (except land rested in solely in the governor of the state, who would hold such land trust for the people and would be responsible for the management of the state’s land resources in the best interest of the state and its citizens”.
The Bureau of Lands and Survey (BLS) was carved out of the erstwhile Bureau of Lands, Survey and Town Planning in 2004 to administer the state’s land resources as directed by the Ogun State Government, but with the ultimate goal of ensuring the systematic and orderly development of the State. This utilization and management of land resources is the focal point that has since guided the state’s land policy thrust.
The Bureau of Lands and Survey has since the inception of the administration of His Excellency Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR spared nothing to ensure the attainment of these towering goals. Further to this, it has placed emphasis on the importance of paradigm shift in the way government business is conducted viz: to reduce waste in time and resources, minimize, misprocessing, promote transparency, due diligence and ensure deployment of the commonwealth of the State for developmental projects with impact on the citizens’ welfare.
